Description

We are looking for a talented and motivated Software Developer for the Forerunner services team in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Our tools and services support teams being able to find, execute, and if necessary troubleshoot changes done for any and all infrastructure or service changes around the world.

In this role, you will be immersed in the complex systems and their integrations for Oracle cloud development and delivery platforms. Your role is to enable service teams and operators to manage frequent changes safely and with least possible cognitive load. We are building tools and service to provide the best in class operational experience and you will be key to this effort. This entails design, development, troubleshooting and debugging software among our databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

In the software developer role, you will be responsible to:

    Work with architects, operators, and other senior engineers to define and document features to enhance  products and services.

    Adopt OCI standard tools and DevOps standards, and practices.

    Implement high quality code and review code written by peers, participate in design reviews of our tools and services.

    Resolve performance and scalability issues related to our tools and services.

    Identify opportunities to improve the health, scalability, and resiliency of products and services.

    Build and execute unit tests and integration plans to prevent regressions.

You will be building tools for monitoring complex systems and high volume transactions, and their integration with other business applications. You shall be able to identify problems before they occur.

Preferred Requirements:

   3+ years of experience in Java software development with networking and security skills on Unix/Linux platforms.

   Good knowledge of API and application design and architecture.

   Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).

   Experience with common monitoring and observability tools.

   Experience building cloud services for external and internal customers.

   Experience using open source technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.

   Knowledge of Git and common IDEs such Eclipse, Visual Studio Code, Intellij

   Must have strong analytical, written, and communications skills.

   BS or equivalent in computer science/engineering or relevant field preferred.

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.

US: Hiring Range: from $62,100 to $158,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
