Job Description:

The Coppin State University College of Business invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Senior Lecturer/Instructor for the Data Science program at the USMSM Regional Center in St. Mary’s County beginning in Spring 2025. Successful applicants will demonstrate an ability and commitment to:

• Instruct undergraduate students in Data Science.
• Serve as a liaison between Coppin State University College of Business,
College of Southern
Maryland, and the USMSM Regional Center in St. Mary’s County.
• Provide both academic/career advising to and placement support for data
science students
• Increase public awareness of the existence of the data science program at
the USMSM Regional Center in St. Mary’s County.
• Assist with curriculum review and development in data science.

Furthermore, the successful applicant will demonstrate the ability and commitment to teaching and recruiting students, professional service, professional development, and meeting the instructional standards of the department, college, and university. The applicant should demonstrate proficiency in the methods of delivery of course content, including traditional classroom-based, completely online, and hybrid modalities. The successful applicant will also serve as a liaison between Coppin State University College of Business, College of Southern Maryland, and the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland in St. Mary’s County. This is a 10-month position beginning in January 2025. The College of Business is accredited by ACBSP.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in data science - day, evening, hybrid, and/or online
  • Function as a liaison between the USMSM Regional Center, the College of Southern Maryland, and the CSU campus in Baltimore by participating in department, division, and university recruitment, retention, and other service.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a master's degree in data science or related fields from an accredited institution. Related fields may include Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Information Systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least three years of data science or related industry experience.
  • Experience in SAP/Microsoft Dynamics/Oracle/Infor, Python/R, Power I/Tableau, AMPL/GAMS, CPLEX preferred.
  • Experience involving analysis and management of massive storage capacity data repositories including high-level mathematical methodologies algebraic, numeric, and algorithmic.
  • Prior teaching or relevant experience in the field.
