Job Description

Job Summary:  
The Senior Database Developer will be responsible for managing company data infrastructure and assets.  In this role, the Senior Database Developer leads the planning, design and implementation of complex data interfaces, transformations, and OLTP and OLAP databases. The individual has a strong technical background and substantial experience in managing and administering Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure. The individual will have a deep understanding of database architecture, performance, security, and integrity, data access and table maintenance, developing and administering ETL processes using SSIS and other tools, SQL coding and performance tuning, and proactive monitoring and alerting. The individual will also have experience utilizing and interpreting data models, developing reporting, data marts, analytic cubes, and visualization.  

Qualifications

  • Job Duties:
    • Model, develop, and implement transactional, ETL staging, and analysis/reporting databases, data structures, and cubes to satisfy business and technical requirements.
    • Develop enterprise level ETL processes that include process logging, data validation, and data integrity checks.
    • Automate complex processes using SQL agent jobs, SQL Server Integration Services, etc.
    • Ensure accuracy and integrity of data through the development of constraints and validation rules.
    • Implement database performance monitoring and tuning.
    • Manage SQL code in a source control system.
    • Establish and enforce SQL development coding standards and best practices. Lead/participate in SQL code reviews.
    • Stay current with database/reporting/Microsoft SQL Server tools and technologies and the direction of the general database industry as a whole.
    • Provide technical mentoring and coaching for junior and mid-level database developers and data quality analysts.
    • Must read, be familiar, and be compliant with Meridian’s Information Security Manual, as well as additional e-mails, policies, procedures and directives that comprise the overall Information Security policies as they are distributed.
    • Additional duties as assigned.

    Education, Experience & Knowledge:

    ? Education:
    ? Bachelor's degree in a related field required. In some cases, substantial, relevant experience may be substituted for this qualification
    ? Technical coursework in Computer Science or related field desired.
    ? Experience/Knowledge:
    ? SQL Server 2014 or above, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS
    ? Advanced level at modeling both OLTP and OLAP databases
    ? Advanced level at developing ETL processes and packages
    ? Advanced SQL development and tuning skills
    ? Exposure to business intelligence tools
    ? Familiarity with RedGate data tools a plus
    ? 5 or more years’ experience in a database developer role
