The Plant Company (TPC) is a newly established business expanding into its Phase 2 production facility, bringing us to 10 acres! Phase 2 encompasses a greenhouse facility along with a production barn. This is a state-of-the-art, controlled-environment greenhouse for the sustainable production of tropical indoor foliage plants of consistent and exceptional quality.

JOB SUMMARY

We seek a skilled and experienced robotics technician who is passionate about machine learning, robotics, and efficiency to join our team. The successful candidate will be a self-starter responsible for operating various types of machinery, ensuring the efficient and safe production of high-quality plants. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. This role will pioneer the launching, overseeing, and monitoring the company’s first sticking line robot for tissue culture. 


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Competencies:


Machinery Setup and Maintenance:

  • Set up, operate, and maintain machinery according to established procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to identify and resolve any issues.
  • Technical Competencies:

System Management:

  • Monitor and adjust robotic machine settings to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
  • Partner with ISO Horti Innovations to create and update SOPs.
  • Proficient in machine operations of sticking and finishing lines, assisting with troubleshooting and changeovers.

Process Improvement:

  • Monitor for continuous improvement to enhance our processes for best practices to optimize efficiencies.
  • Partner with LeanFlow experts to optimize operations with Lean Six Sigma best practices.

Tray Handling and Placement:

  • Ensure trays are accurately placed on tables.
  • Work with the Horti Track system to ensure trays are routed into the correct lane in the rooting chamber.

Sticking Line Operation:

  • Operate the sticking line independently when required.
  • Infeed trays into the sticking line.
  • Feed tissue culture (TC) or cuttings into the robot.

Quality Control:

  • Perform quality control checks on finished trays.
  • Ensure that completed trays meet quality standards before loading them onto tables.


Interpersonal Competencies:

Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient production and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a direct line of communication with the supplier.

Self-Management:

  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently, particularly when running the sticking line solo.
  • Manage time efficiently to ensure all tasks are completed within scheduled timelines.

Requirements

 REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Advanced computer skills for data entry and reporting
  • Commitment to workplace safety and maintaining a clean work environment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience as a robotics technician, engineer, or machine operator in a similar role

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to bend, twist, turn, climb, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the workday—manual dexterity for operating machinery and handling tools.
