Team and Product Description:
Our group, Automatic Storage Management (aka ASM), is responsible for building highly available, scalable, and efficient tools to solve customers' storage problems. ASM is a central part of the Oracle Database's storage strategy. While it is versatile enough to run with any physical storage backend, ASM is also the key storage solution that enables the database to run in engineered systems such as the Exadata Database Machine and the Oracle Database Appliance (ODA).
ASM is part of the greater Oracle Exadata team. Oracle Exadata technology powers the highest performance Oracle Database Cloud service. Oracle Exadata Cloud Service allows customers to easily move enterprise applications to the cloud with the high performance, scale, and availability of Oracle Exadata and the simplicity of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Advanced cloud automation, dynamic resource scaling, and flexible subscription pricing enable customers to run database workloads faster and lower costs.
Exadata Database Machine is the only database appliance in the industry that is capable of providing extreme performance for data warehousing, OLTP and consolidated workloads. Built using database and storage software from Oracle and industry standard hardware from Sun/Intel, Exadata Database Machine provides a fully optimized engineered system for best performance, scalability and high availability.
The primary focus of the ASM group is to solve storage management problems and improve data availability. As a member of this team, you will participate in the research, design, and implementation of the core components of the ASM infrastructure.
