Summary:

This position is responsible for the daily administration, maintenance and support of workstations, servers, security, and local network at DecoPac's corporate headquarters. The Level II Network Administrator will work as part of a Network team with junior and senior members to support ongoing operations. The Network Administrator will also manage participation in multiple simultaneous Information Technology projects involving other departments. The Network Administrator II will be responsible for implementing and maintaining heterogenous server technologies, troubleshooting network infrastructure, and performing end-user workstation support, along with a willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time to support remote facilities. This position reports directly to the Network Manager and works closely with all parts of the organization to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of DecoPac network resources. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Technical Knowledge: – 55% 

  • Configures, tests, and deploys physical and virtual network equipment at our on-premises and remote datacentres
  • Configures, tests, and deploys network security software at our on-premises and remote datacentres
  • Responsible for ensuring network device configurations align with best practices. 
  • Maintain network security through implementing policies, patching, and installing antivirus software
  • Gain proficiency in new technologies with independent research or minimal training
  • Participate in and lead Network projects involving new software and hardware
  • Assign access to resources by request in adherence to security policies

Support – 30%

  • Administer servers, desktops, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, desktop phones, and smartphones. Ensure workstation IT equipment requirements are set up for new team members on the first day of employment.
  • Resolve user issues or escalate help desk tickets from local and remote users on Windows and macOS workstations
  • Demonstrate new hardware and software to end users and team members
  • Work cohesively with IT staff, departmental managers, and project managers on those projects
  • Communicating networking issues to other employees and management, especially in training new users
  • Interacts with end users to identify and accommodate network related needs for new technologies in a way that aligns with IT security best practices.

Control and Monitoring – 15% 

  • Document and diagram new technologies
  • Audits and maintains record of network device configurations.
  • Monitor hardware for security, availability, and performance
  • Responds to alerts overnight/weekends as part of an on-call rotation with the Network team

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience working in network administration or related field. 
  • Relevant industry certification, such as CCNA strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences, information technology, or related field preferred, but not required. 
  • Hands on experience with Cisco network hardware (i.e., switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN technologies) required. 
  • Experiencing administering a Windows environment with AD, DNS, DHCP, and group policy required. 
  • Experience working with a help desk ticketing systems such as ServiceDesk Plus required. 
  • Experience working with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V required. 
  • Experience administering EDR platform required. 

 

Skills / Requirements:

  • Foremost, a strong customer service attitude and interpersonal skills
  • Aptitude to independently research and suggest new technologies
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the Office365 suite, Exchange Online, and SharePoint Online
  • Working knowledge of the IBM POWER8 mainframe 
  • Working knowledge of the Cisco Unified Communications phone system
  • Familiarity with cloud networking solutions (ie: AWS or Azure)
  • Familiarity with backups, restores, and rotations using technologies such as Commvault
  • The ability to travel up to 10% of the time to support remote sites in the United States
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
