OPPORTUNITY:

 

HEABC has an opening for a Manager, Software Development. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Manager, Software Development is responsible and accountable for providing leadership, management, and technical expertise to the support and development of new and existing systems, applications, and tools for HEABC and associated organizations. As a member of the IMIT management and leadership team, the Manager develops goals, objectives, standards, strategies, and approaches to ensure alignment with the business needs of HEABC. Applying a broad range of information technology experience and knowledge, the Manager manages a team to build and support systems and evaluates products for technical and architectural fit within HEABC and the provincial environment.

 

Responsibilities Include:


  1. Develops, implements, maintains, and sustains of a comprehensive systems development program encompassing:
    • Development platforms and languages
    • Code repositories and version control
    • Development standards and guidelines
    • Testing standards and guidelines
    • Code review standards and guidelines
    • Environment lifecycle and use standards and guidelines
    • Information security
  2. Manages systems development projects including planning, coordinating, and execution.
  3. Writes and oversees use of development standards and guidelines across HEABC and partner organizations.
  4. Develops and fosters strong relationships with the rest of IMIT and all business areas of HEABC to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives.


Required Education, Experience and Skills

 

A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline with seven (7) to ten (10) years of software development leadership experience and software development experience in a complex business environment (preferably healthcare) or a combination of education, training and directly relevant experience.

 

  • Proven ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and manage performance.
  • Proficiency in several programming languages, including C#.
  • Sound understanding of the underlying principles and concepts associated with software development (including methodologies and lifecycle), enterprise architecture and strategic IT planning.
  • Experience with software testing, debugging, and version control systems such as git.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain current with new technologies and new versions of existing technologies and the ability to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems independently.
  • Ability to independently plan, organize and prioritize work and to resolve problems and communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Ability to teach and effectively communicate very technical concepts to others.

Salary Range: $88,990 to $127,923


Typical Hiring Range: $88,990 to $111,237


In determining salary, HEABC considers many factors including the successful candidate’s skillset and experience as well as internal equity.  The final salary offer will be at HEABC’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
