Overview






As the Manager of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, you’ll concentrate on leveraging advanced analytics methods and technologies—such as machine learning, statistics, optimization, spatial analytics, and AI—to enhance core business processes. Your efforts will support the corporation’s mission of delivering exceptional value and service to all Manitobans.

 

You will play a key role in developing, delivering, and evaluating solutions and strategic plans to advance the corporation’s analytics and AI goals. As the Manager, you’ll offer guidance and advice to both internal and external stakeholders on their data science and AI needs, collaborating with other departments to provide advanced analytics solutions for the corporation.

 









Responsibilities






  • Supervises, coaches, and conducts performance management evaluations of direct reports.
  • Fosters a high-performance culture that is consistent with corporate vision, values and leading practices.
  • Oversee the development of the data science and AI program and lead delivery of advanced analytics services which bring value to the corporation, as measured by program key performance indicators (KPI).
  • Oversee the establishment and maintenance of a central repository of advanced analytics models and solutions.
  • Guide the identification, research, selection, and alignment of technology solutions which meet business and technical requirements for data science and AI.
  • Review and approve changes to policies, procedures, and practices related to data science and AI.
  • Drive the adoption and integration of machine learning and AI use-cases into regular corporate day-to-day business operations and processes.
  • Oversee the management of data science projects from inception to completion. Work closely project stakeholders to define project goals, requirements, deliverables and timelines. This includes allocation of resources, monitor project progress, and mitigate risks, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.








Qualifications






  • Education in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related quantitative fields of study.
  • Three years of experience in a management or leadership role.
  • Experience in areas including data science, statistics, machine learning, data analysis, data integrations (ETL), systems design, maintenance and /or coding.
  • Experience creating business value through the development and deployment of production-ready machine learning or advanced analytics solutions.
  • Advanced theoretical and practical working knowledge of statistical machine learning topics, concepts & methodologies.
  • Intermediate experience with cloud technologies (e.g., MS Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience with machine learning operations (MLOPs).
  • Working knowledge of Out-of-the-box AI services provided by cloud providers (e.g. Azure AI services) to accelerate use-cases related to areas such as natural language processing and data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience creating business value through the development and deployment of production-ready machine learning or advanced analytics solutions
  • Intermediate knowledge of responsible AI concepts including machine learning interpretability/explainability.
