As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Cybersecurity & Tech Controls organization, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives. Your mission will be to help lead our team of innovators and technologists toward creating next-level solutions that improve the way our business is run. You’ll be instrumental in solving more difficult technical issues, developing integration elements, building data models, APIs, and open 3rd-party SDKs. 


Job responsibilities



  • Building data models, APIs, and open 3rd-party SDKs

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems

  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others

  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems

  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture

  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies

  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills



  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience

  • Strong project management skills, the ability to manage external dependencies/risks and migration plan to achieve business objectives on schedule

  • Strong critical-thinking and innovative problem-solving skills to deliver new product features and continuously introduce system enhancements to meet end user/stakeholder expectations. Experience and working knowledge of modern software development technologies and Agile methodologies/DevOps/CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security and tools such as Git, Bitbucket, and Jenkins

  • Experience and working knowledge of Software development experience and in one or more general-purpose programming languages: Terraform, Python, Java, C, C++, Go

  • Strong Understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), virtualization, and APIs

  • Experience with developing frameworks. technical design standards that help increase developer and release velocity, improving code quality and stability in production. Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

  • Advanced experience working with two or more from the following: Infra-As-Code using Terraform/Ansible, web application development, database, unix/linux environments, distributed and parallel systems, information retrieval, networking, large-scale software development, security software development

  • Deep knowledge of Data networks protocols and web service technologies such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/UDP, JSON and REST

  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability

  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems

  • Practical cloud native experience
