We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Network Administrator to join our team supporting a large-scale government network infrastructure. The position will be on-site at our Lanham, MD location in a 24/7 environment. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment supporting a critical network infrastructure. Job Summary:


The successful candidate will possess in-depth networking knowledge and experience within large, complex enterprise environments. This role focuses on managing and optimizing the network infrastructure, ensuring compliance with security policies, and maintaining seamless operations across network components, including WLAN controllers, routers, switches, and other network devices.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Manage, configure, and support LAN/WAN, wireless networks, and network infrastructure to ensure consistent performance and security compliance.

  • Implement security policies, best practices, and global configurations on network devices in coordination with tool administrators.

  • Monitor network performance and ensure all voice, video, and data are transported successfully while adhering to service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Design, organize, modify, install, and support network systems, including wired (Cat 5/6) and wireless LANs, routers, switches, and firewalls.

  • Support after-hours on-call services for high-priority incidents (P1/P2) and assist with service restoration as part of SRTs.

  • Ensure the deployment of new technologies, maintain software levels, and apply updates to meet evolving network needs.

  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with governance, risk management, and compliance mandates.

  • Provide technical expertise on multi-vendor environments and transfer network configurations across different platforms.


Qualifications:



  • 10+ years of experience in network administration within large, complex enterprise environments, with extensive knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, access control lists, VPNs, wireless networks, DNS/DHCP/IPAM, firewall operations, and spanning tree.

  • Hands-on experience with VoIP, MPLS, PLS/SIP protocols, wired (Cat 5/6) and wireless LANs, and Unix/Windows system administration.

  • Proficiency with Cisco Routers/Switches (all models), F5 Load Balancers, and protocol analyzers (Riverbed, Netscout).

  • Expertise in Cisco Unified Communications, QoS, SNMP (v1-v3), IPv4/IPv6, Riverbed AppExpert, Aruba platforms, VPN/DMZ, remote access, and PKI.

  • Skilled in configuring EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, DMVPN, Cisco ASA, and ACS for RADIUS authentication.

  • Certifications: CCNA (or higher), CCNP Voice/Data, CCNA Wireless, ITIL v3, Aruba ACMX/ACDX, CWNA, CWSP.

  • Strong documentation skills (Visio), technical project management, scripting (Perl/SQL), and network monitoring tools.

  • Excellent communication and knowledge transfer abilities.



  • Education: Associate's degree in engineering DirectViz Solutions, (DVS) is a rapidly growing or equivalent experience.



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).


Physical and Mental Qualifications:



  • Be able to maintain awareness during scheduled working hours.

  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing at desk and working on a computer (mouse and keyboard)

  • Able to lift up to 15 pounds.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication; good command of the English language
