Our work depends on the right candidate joining our team to support U.S. Army Europe as an Information Security Analyst Advisor Fellow on our EMITS Program Team in Wiesbaden Germany.

The Information Security Analyst Advisor Fellow will be responsible for assisting the ISSM in ensuring that a Certification and Accreditation package is prepared and maintained in accordance with (IAW) the DoDI 8510.01 Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology (IT). They are also tasked with verifying systems in APMS and process each accreditation package in eMASS under the RMF.

HOW AN INFORMATION SECURITY ANALYST ADVISOR FELLOW WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and maintain systems and procedures to safeguard internal information systems, network, databases, and Web-based security. 
  • Participate in Cybersecurity Plans Projects & Training, Cybersecurity Assessments, Cybersecurity Operations,  Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization via RMF processes and procedures.
  • Serve as ISSO as needed.
  • Monitors and analyzes Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) to identify security issues for remediation.
  • Recognizes potential, successful, and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises thorough reviews and analyses of relevant event detail and summary information.
  • Evaluates firewall change requests and assesses organizational risk.
  • Communicates alerts to agencies regarding intrusions and compromises to their network infrastructure, applications, and operating systems.
  • Assists with implementation of countermeasures or mitigating controls.
  • Conducts regular audits to ensure that systems are being operated securely, and information systems security policies and procedures are being implemented as defined in security plans.
  • Develops, tests, and operates firewalls, intrusion detection systems, enterprise antivirus systems and software deployment tools.
  • Safeguards the network against unauthorized infiltration, modification, destruction, or disclosure.
  • Researches, evaluates, tests, and implements new security software or devices.
  • Conducts investigations of information systems security violations and incidents, reporting as necessary to management.
  • Implements, enforces, communicates, and develops security policies or plans for data, software applications, hardware, telecommunications, and information systems security education/awareness programs.
  • Performs periodic and on-demand system audits and vulnerability assessments, including user accounts, application access, file system and external Web integrity scans to determine compliance.
  • Provides information to management regarding the negative impact on the business caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access to information.
  • Provides information assurance project management, technical security staff oversight, and development of mission-critical technical documents.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and privacy laws.
  • Develops materials for computer security education/awareness programs.
  • Responds to queries and requests for computer security information and reports.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Active Secret with SSBI Clearance Required
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline; or the equivalent combination of education; professional training or work experience.
  • 8-10 years of related experience in data security administration.
  • 2 or more years direct C&A/A&A experience.
  • IAM Level III certification required (CISSP/CISM/GSLC).
  • Two or more years direct C&A/A&A experience required.
  • Experience performing as an ACA/SCA-V. This position may occasionally require some physical activity; lifting objects; bending; crouching down (i.e. to troubleshoot equipment); and long periods of sitting.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:

  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty

  • Can participate within the last 6 months of separation or retirement

  • Will receive an honorable discharge

  • Has taken any service TAP/TGPS

  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months

Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of the fellowship.
