Front End Developer
The Execution Technology team is looking for a full-stack Frontend Developer. The engineer will be part of a team that develops high-performance applications and services for trading and monitoring. The engineer should be self-motivated, detail oriented, organized and able to demonstrate strong ownership of work and high work ethics.
Key Responsibilities

Develop High-Performance Applications: Design, build, and optimize front-end components of high-frequency trading platforms using JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js.

Optimize for Low-Latency: Implement and maintain low-latency, real-time data processing features that support our trading strategies.

Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with back-end developers, quantitative analysts, and traders to ensure the seamless integration and performance of the trading applications.

Real-Time Data Visualization: Develop and maintain real-time data visualization tools that provide traders with actionable insights.

Code Quality & Best Practices: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, adhering to the best practices in software development.

Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest trends in front-end development and finance technology, proposing innovative solutions to enhance the performance and usability of our trading systems.
Required Qualifications / Skills
- 5+ years of front-end development experience, preferably within a financial services firm supporting real-time electronic trading
- Understanding of financial markets, trading systems and financial instruments
- Strong proficiency in Javascript / Typescript
- Strong understanding of front-end frameworks and libraries such as Angular, Svelte, Vue.js or React
- Knowledge of real-time data processing and visualization techniques
- Familiarity with WebSockets, RESTful APIs, and other communication protocols
- Proven track record of optimizing web applications for speed, scalability, and responsiveness
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Team-player mentality with a strong willingness to be proactive, help others, and think creatively
Beneficial Skills
- Previous experience working in the financial services industry, particularly in trading or quantitative research environments
- Typescript, Javascript (ES6), SCSS, HTML
- Strong full-stack development experience
- Familiarity with back-end technologies, particularly those related to high-performance computing or big data
- Knowledge of automated testing frameworks and tools
- Experience with WebAssembly and its application in performance optimization
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
The estimated base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $250,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. When finalizing an offer, we take into consideration an individualβs experience level and the qualifications they bring to the role to formulate a competitive total compensation package.
