Position Summary


The Database Developer will be responsible for designing databases and ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance. You will also work with other developers optimizing in-application SQL statements as necessary, and establishing best practices. The candidate will develop MS-SQL queries, procedures, reports and work closely with the SQL Administrators.


The successful candidate will help solve all database usage issues and come up with ideas and advice that can help avoid such problems.

Responsibilities



  • Development of high quality database solutions.

  • Develop, implement, and optimize stored procedures and functions using TransAct SQL.

  • Review and interpret ongoing business report requirements.

  • Research required data.

  • Build appropriate and useful reporting deliverables in MS Excel.

  • Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements.

  • Develop procedures and scripts for data migration.

  • Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.

  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.

  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.

  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.

  • Prepares technical documentation.

  • Provides work package estimates and manage delivery expectations.

  • May interface directly with clients to clarify requirements or discuss alternative solutions.

  • Design and develop automated processes, workflows, and schedules.




Skills and Experience



  • 5+ years MS SQL years of experience as a SQL Developer, MySQL or similar role.

  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

  • Participate in requirements analysis working collaboratively with IT Business Analysts and business subject matter experts across various departments.

  • Participate in code reviews and validation of deliverables as warranted by SDLC.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Flexible, team player.

  • Ability to organize and plan work independently.

  • Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams.

  • High level of energy and passion.

  • Strong sense of professional accountability and integrity.

  • Strong technical background.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

  • A background in finance/insurance is preferred.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services like S3, EC2, ECS, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda, and other AWS services.

  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services/DevOps is a plus.

  • Familiarity with developing custom workflows using Microsoft Power Automate is a plus.
