Community Health Network of Connecticut, Inc. (CHNCT) is currently seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer and Threat Analyst.  

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Under the direction of the Director of Information Security, the Cybersecurity Engineer and Threat Analyst is responsible for the design, auditing and technical monitoring of CHNCT’s security infrastructure and related activities. 
  • These activities include but are not limited to, implementing and maintaining security related systems and software, analyzing threat data, leading or assisting on incident response teams, conducting threat assessments and risk analysis, and conducting forensic investigations.
  • Works closely with the Director to develop and establish security related operating procedures and policies.
  • Works directly with contracted vendors for the implementation and maintenance of security hardware, software and services. 
  • Assists with the selection and evaluation of security related systems, and products.

Tasks Performed: 

  • Implementing and maintaining security related software and hardware and system setup in compliance with established policies and procedures and security standards under HIPAA, other applicable regulations, and frameworks, including HITRUST. 
  • Systems include but are not limited to Internet content filtering system, vulnerability management system, IDS/IPS, endpoint protections, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM). 
  • Duties include information security related server management, Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity support, proactively identifying or rapidly responding to customer security issues, and information security event response.
  • Supports the Information Security Assurance Program Manager and Information Security Architect in developing secure system architectures, requirements, operational concepts, security accreditation plans, and input to GRC activities and policy and procedures. 
  • Other duties as otherwise assigned.

Essential Functions: 

  • Responsible for monitoring, assessing, and auditing, per policy, of all aspects of
  • information security, including endpoints, servers, applications, firewalls, and relevant third parties’ systems and activities. 
  • Responsible for logging and responding to incidents, along with communication of potential violations of the company’s information security policies to Director of Information Security. 
  • Independently acts to prevent or deter security breaches or intrusions that threaten the integrity of mission critical data or applications.
  • Assists in setting policies for and the development and testing of the DR and Business
  • Continuity Plans

Desired Education: 2 to 4 years post-secondary schooling

Desired Degree: Associates; Bachelors preferred

Desired Major:  Information Assurance, Computer Technology or Computer Science

Desired Job Experience: 5+ years information security experience as primary function required, preferably in a Healthcare organization.

Other Qualifications: CISSP or other approved information security certification required. Knowledgeable in the management and setup of security related software and hardware. Familiarity with many of the following: IDS/IPS, network monitoring, vulnerability management software, other information security software/hardware packages, servers, endpoints, and network infrastructure.
