CNIC Regional Offices enable improving operational performance and cost reductions through business process definition, analysis, and development of technical capabilities which automate processes or improve transparency for analytics and decision making. In support of this effort the CNIC N6 Network Administrator will be responsible for IT services required to support Navy Marine Corps Internet (NMCI)/COSC planning, coordination, execution, and business processes. This position is based out of Yorktown, Virginia. 

 

In this role, you will:

  • Providing support to the CTR to manage administrative activity, contract ordering functions, and customer service support associated with the use of various NMCI ordering and invoicing systems
  • Supporting PC refresh efforts such as Windows upgrades
  • Supporting government phone efforts such as Purebred or other technical upgrades
  • Supporting account creations for NMCI users, troubleshooting CAC issues, and assisting users with technical issues
  • Providing regional and local level design and installation support to Navy-wide Operational Technology (OT) initiatives and programs for specific instantiations within regional networks
  • Maintaining and securing regional and local level OT systems in accordance with Navy directives
  • Ensuring connectivity and integration with regional monitoring and enterprise management services
  • Troubleshooting system outages and network connectivity issues; engaging with program-level support personnel, base-level communications, and regional staff to resolve issues
  • Ensuring OT systems adhere to cyber security principles and support any local IA initiatives designed to secure and accredit existing OT system
  • Providing support to resolve technical issues that arise during sustainment, including Maintenance trend analysis, technical issue resolution, interface with OEM, analysis of alternatives, and proposing solutions to improve uptime and readiness for locally installed systems
  • Performing administration and maintenance of network infrastructure hardware and components
  • Monitoring and maintaining servers physical and virtual network switches and routers, workstations, Laptops and Multi-function Devices (printers) on the network
  • Creating and maintaining documentation of physical and logical connectivity of network devices
  • Participating in the design, plan, and execution of network modernization projects
  • Researching and recommending network products based on customer requirements
  • Providing customer support to include receiving calls for network connection, troubleshooting network issues/outages, process firewall change request and answer general network questions
  • Coordinating with vendors and other Government agencies to provide support for network devices
  • Responding to incidents elevated from the Enterprise Desktop Support and Information Assurance Management section related to network matters/security incidents and resolve the incidents as directed by the Region N6
  • Coordinating with the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Mater Station Atlantic (NCTAMS LANT) Base Communications Office (BCO) to establish fiber optic and copper-based connectivity
  • Monitoring the Enterprise Operations Console, and document and report network related incidents, looking for indications of network related incidents
  • Managing and configuring Access Control List (ACL) on SIPR
  • Maintaining the Wireless Device Inventory and update, distribute and program wireless devices
  • Performing routine network administration tasks such as opening/closing of network ports








Qualifications






To be successful in this role, you will have following:

  • An active DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Ability to obtain an active 8570 level II compliant certification within 180 days of employment.
  • High School Diploma/GED
    • Or Masters degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience, to include three (3) of the following four (4) areas: Systems Requirements, Operational Requirements, Test & Evaluation, and Training.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Cisco Network switches/ hardware
  • Ability to trouble shoot and upload patches for the following systems
    • Windows 10
    • Windows server 2008R2 Domain servers
    • MSSQL servers
    • CentOS 5 / RHEL 5 servers
    • RHEL 6 Servers
    • ePO 5.3 / HBSS Server
    • ACAS Server
    • VMware server
    • NTP server
  • Ability to run ACAS scans and complete DISA STIG’s on all network devices and to remediate inconsistencies identified
  • Ability to reconcile Cat 1 and Cat 2 weaknesses identified during scanning/STIGing.
  • Ability to be on call 24x7 with notice provided.
  • Ability to work evenings once a week when applying patches to minimize service interruption

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Current 8570 level II compliant certification
