The Department of Information Technology and Analytics in the Kogod School of Business at American University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor rank faculty position in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) for the Academic Year 2025-2026 (starting in August 2025). We are especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to the inclusive excellence of the school’s academic reputation. Qualifications. An earned doctorate or anticipated completion of a doctorate by August 2025 is required in artificial intelligence, information systems, analytics, management science, operations research, decision science, and quantitative sciences. Candidates must have a strong record of publishing research in top-tier academic journals or the potential to do so. Candidates must also have demonstrated evidence or potential of teaching excellence at undergraduate and graduate levels. A record of securing research funding from federal agencies and corporate sponsors, or the potential to do so, is desirable.
Responsibilities. The ideal candidates will help the school expand its AI initiative by publishing AI research in top-tier academic journals, obtaining external grants, and teaching AI-related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. They are expected to participate in department, school, and university activities.
