The Vendor Supply Chain Optimization (VSO) team within Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) optimizes vendor integration with Amazon supply chain to drive sales growth and reduce inefficiencies in service of high priority Amazon operational leadership goals with billions of dollars of opportunity. Our tools help vendors configure their Amazon supply chain workflows, identify ordering and shipping defects, and improve supply chain execution jointly for both Amazon and vendors. We provide insights, metrics, and strategic planning tools through intuitive interfaces that enable vendor productivity with their Amazon operations. AI-enabled workflows, which you will help develop, create new efficiencies for both vendors and Amazon.

As the team Software Development Manager, you will drive technical strategy, architecture and engineering to build a new platform that transforms how vendors integrate with Amazon's supply chain. You will build a brand new product from ground zero to reduce end to end supply chain costs by hundreds of millions of dollars while improving customer delivery speed and inventory availability for retail customers worldwide. A key aspect of this product are new packaging capabilities for vendors that advance Amazon's sustainability goals and reduce our carbon footprint at scale. This highly visible role requires a leader passionate about managing a high-performance team with full-stack ownership across AI, ML, back-end, and front-end technologies. You will shape our technical and product roadmap and collaborate with Amazon ops and Retail leaders across Amazon to deliver a transformative vision for the future of Amazon supply chain.

Key job responsibilities
* Lead your team to build and ship a brand new, high impact product with speed and quality at scale.
* Hire, mentor and develop your direct SDE reports to foster a strong, positive and inspirational engineering culture.
* Define the technical direction and architecture for large, complex software systems, ensuring scalability, performance and long term sustainability.
* Create a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement where inefficiencies are quickly identified and fixed with tech solutions. We take managed risks and engineer our way out of problems.
* Quickly learn and implement emergent technologies in Generative AI, AI native experiences, AI agents.
* Build strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and partners across product, UX. tech and science to deliver results.

A day in the life
You manage your SDE team to build software, systems and services for our flagship supply chain product and other supporting products. On any given day, this means planning, sprint facilitation, architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews and launches. You partner and earn trust with your SDM peers and partner teams WW to design architecture and contracts for new features and integration scenarios. You will work closely with your product management and UX design partners to collaborate on product asks and distill those asks into technical architecture and requirements for your team. You take extra steps to ensure your team is motivated for the challenges in front of them while creating a fun and positive team atmosphere where your team grows professionally.

About the team
Our team mission is to improve the efficiency of vendors’ supply chain with Amazon, taking a holistic view across all supply chain programs. We accomplish this mission through a cross-functional team of product managers, program managers, UX designers, BIEs, SDEs and scientists that build and operationalize vendor experiences and ML driven products that maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of supply chain operations for both vendors and Amazon. You will lead the SDE team that delivers on this mission. We work hard and have fun to build and ship high impact products that deliver results, come join us.

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
