Introduction to team:
Join our dynamic team that builds and operates the communication platform that enables our company to send emails, SMS, mobile push and other social media-based notifications to travelers, partners and suppliers. Our team is responsible for the experimentation system that enables (A/B and other types of) experimentation on these notifications, helping optimize the company’s communication strategies.
We are seeking a talented Data Engineer and Backend Software Development Engineer to join our team. This hybrid role involves designing and implementing data processing capabilities for our experimentation system, as well as working on the backend services that power the experimentation platform. · Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform data from various sources into usable formats for analytics and reporting for our experimentation system
· Write and maintain documentation for data pipelines, models, and processes
· Develop and maintain backend services that support the experimentation system
· Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to ensure data quality, system reliability, scalability, and efficiency
· Explore data to provide insights and recommendations for improving the experimentation system
· Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our systems
· Work closely with stakeholders to make high quality datasets available to consumers in a timely manner
· Have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering) or equivalent experience.
· Have 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer, with a strong background in data pipeline development, ETL processes and data modeling as well as experience with building backend services
· Have strong knowledge of big data technologies (Spark, Airflow etc.), cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure etc.) and familiarity with streaming technologies like Kafka.
· Familiarity with data governance, data security and data quality best practices
· Have proficiency in backend programming languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin or Python) and frameworks
· Preferably have experience with A/B testing or experimentation systems
· Have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
· Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to convey technical details to a variety of stakeholders
· Passionate about continuous learning and keeping yourself up to date with industry trends
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $112,000.00 to $156,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
