Responsibilities and Duties

The Senior Robotics Engineer will develop, refine, and deploy planning and controls algorithms for autonomous aircraft applications, and integrate these onto platforms that range from small quadcopters to full-scale helicopters. Senior engineers provide technical leadership to guide projects through the complete lifecycle from conception through production, whether through leading teams or through subject matter expertise.

We are looking for candidates who are independent, self-starting thinkers, passionate about state-of-the-art technology, and are also empathetic team players and strong communicators. The ideal candidate for this position can multitask effectively, is comfortable working on a quick development tempo, and, most importantly, enjoys bringing new autonomy technology to life.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ of industry experience in aerospace, robotics or autonomous flight domains
  • Expertise or specialization in motion planning and controls for vehicle guidance
  • Experience with motion planning algorithms that include discrete search, randomized search, and optimization methods
  • Experience with simulation and modeling of vehicle dynamics
  • Experience with software benchmarking, optimization, and multi-threaded development
  • Experience with system identification and controller tuning
  • Good software design and programming skills with experience in C++
  • Familiarity with software engineering practices and software development life cycle
  • Familiarity with development in a Linux environment

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field
  • Expertise or specialization in motion planning and controls for aerospace applications
  • Experience with ROS or ROS2
  • Experience with field testing of aerial robotic systems
  • Experience with multivariate optimization and nonlinear controls
  • Experience with Guidance and Control toolboxes including automatic code generation
  • Experience leading teams and/or mentoring new engineers
