Description

Fortinet is looking to recruit a skilled Senior DevOps QA Specialist to join our FIO development team in Burnaby, BC. The candidate will be responsible for managing lab operations, quality assurance and supporting the ongoing development of our OpenStack-based private cloud platform. This position is ideal for OpenStack specialists or IT professionals with expertise in virtualization, OpenStack, Ceph storage, and networking.


Job Responsibilities:



  • Lead lab operations, quality assurance, and development of multiple OpenStack private cloud platforms.

  • Focus on continuous improvement by identifying automation and optimization opportunities.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently and with broader teams.

  • Provide technical leadership and share knowledge across the FIO team.

  • Implement, deploy, maintain, test, and monitor cloud instances.

  • Analyze instance data and provide feedback to developers and infrastructure teams for improvements.

  • Review cloud instances and internal processes for optimization.

  • Collaborate with developers to identify and fix defects, ensuring high-quality software.

  • Automate test cases and system monitoring with scripting.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on customer cloud instances.


Job Requirements:



  • 5+ years of experience in production platform operations

  • Expertise in OpenStack administration

  • Proficiency in server virtualization (KVM, VMware, etc.)

  • Strong Linux server administration skills (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)

  • Knowledge of network administration and standard protocols

  • Experience with monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios, etc.)

  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, etc.)

  • Ability to organize, multitask, and work both independently and in a team

  • Understanding of TCP/IP, routing, and switching

  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems

  • Experience with OpenSSL, Apache, Iptables, MySQL, Tcpdump, and Wireshark

  • Strong knowledge of security (firewall, encryption, PKI, x509 certificates)

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot software logically and analytically

  • Ability to write clear problem reports and test results

  • Knowledge of QA procedures, methodologies, and software development fundamentals

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Certification in VMware VCAP, NSX

  • Certification in CCIE

  • Certification in PMP, ITIL

  • Knowledge in container management (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, etc.)

  • Knowledge in software defined storage and network (Ceph, OVN/OpenvSwitch, NSX-T, etc.)

  • Experience in ISO27001


The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $99,000 - $134,000 annually.  Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level.  Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
