The Dufresne Group is currently seeking a Senior Database Developer for our eCommerce Team within our Home Office located at 147 Commerce Drive in Winnipeg, MB.
As a Senior Database Developer you will be responsible for managing data infrastructure and assets for eCommerce. In this role, you will lead the planning, design, and implementation of complex data interfaces, transformations, and OLTP and OLAP databases.

As the Senior Database Developer you will:
- Plan, design, and implement complex data interfaces, transformations, and OLTP and OLAP databases.
- Model, develop, and implement transactional, ETL staging, and analysis/reporting databases, data structures, and cubes to satisfy business and technical requirements.
- Complete continuous improvement projects to further automate, fix issues, and increase efficiency across database, ETL, and business line processing.
- Focus on SQL and PL/SQL application development using packages, store procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
- Automate complex processes using SQL agent jobs, SQL Server Integration Services, etc.
- Manage SQL code in a source control system.
- Implement database performance monitoring and tuning.
- Establish and enforce SQL development coding standards and best practices. Lead/participate in SQL code reviews.
- Train other development teams on the implementation of the code.
- Write clean, fast code that is free of bloat and unnecessary overhead.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of data through the development of constraints and validation rules.
As a successful candidate you will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience with: SQL Server 2019 or above, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.
- Extensive (ideally at least 7 years of) experience developing ETL.
- A strong technical background and substantial experience in managing and administering Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure.
- Demonstration of a deep understanding of database architecture, performance, security, and integrity, data access and table maintenance, developing and administering ETL processes using SSIS and other tools, SQL coding and performance tuning, and proactive monitoring and alerting.
- Experience utilizing and interpreting data models, developing reporting, data marts, analytic cubes, and visualization.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to clearly articulate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality work.
- Ability to find innovative solutions to data management challenges, especially when dealing with complex or ambiguous situations.
- Ability to evaluate and interpret data-related requirements, anticipate issues, and propose effective, scalable solutions.
- Commitment to staying current with database/reporting/Microsoft SQL Server tools and technologies and the direction of the general database industry.
