Responsibilities






 

Peraton is seeking a SQL Database Programmer//Developer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will become part of Peraton’s Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Joint Operations Center (JOC) program. The JOC was established to assist the Agency’s more than 35 contact centers nationwide in providing world class service, support and technology to achieve desired level of service for all telephone, correspondence and electronic inquiries. In concert with this, the JOC must respond quickly to Congressional and IRS Commissioner Level mandates that impact taxpayer experience. This role provides project management and technical support for the Agency’s Enterprise Telephone Database (ETD) and serves as a technical advisor to the client. The ETD captures critical operational data for hundreds of million annual taxpayer interactions handled across the more than 35 contact centers nationwide.

 

The SQL Database Programmer/Develper is a hybrid role, with requirements to be on the customer’s premises in either Chamblee, GA or New Carrollton, MD at least once weekly. All other work can be performed remotely.

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Experienced Microsoft SQL Database Programmer / Administrator responsible for the development and administration of various SQL based applications and systems.
  • This “hands-on” position requires solid technical and analytical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to contribute to a wide variety of data centric requirements.
  • Act as technical liaison with multiple IRS organizations and collaborate and work with teams on various development and reporting assignments. Must be able to multi-task and manage deadlines, work independently, effectively, and efficiently.
  • Plan, organize, direct and monitor activities for the ETD Data Warehouse which supports more than 300 reports under 22 reporting categories.
  • Develop and maintain SQL databases in support of new and existing applications.  Create, maintain and troubleshoot extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) code.
  • Develop and maintain SQL Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers and Views.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and remediate data integrity issues.
  • Create ad hoc reports from ETD data for various IRS stakeholders, customers and legislative and executive inquiries.
  • Monitor systems; proactively manage and maintain configurations to unsure performance and availability.
  • Perform database and related asset backups and recovery.
  • SQL query optimization; index management.
  • System performance and optimization tuning.
  • Support production systems for database problem resolution, recovery and potential Emergency off-hour support.
  • Must be a self-starter who enjoys problem solving as well as researching techniques and methodologies to produce effective, complete and reliable solutions.








Qualifications






 

Required qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years’ experience required.  An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Possess Oracle DB CA, Microsoft SQL or equivalent certification.
  • Experience implementing, maintaining, and automating backup and recovery plans.
  • Extensive experience in database design, development, implementation and methodologies.
  • Extensive experience with Transact SQL, Stored Procedures, Views, Triggers and Functions.
  • Experience automating data Import/Extraction using SQL Server tools.
  • Experience in examining and optimizing query execution plans and index/data usage.
  • Experience analyzing hardware, software, and network ecosystems to optimize database server performance.
  • Experience resolving locking and dead lock issues.
  • Experience with Microsoft Reporting and Analysis Services.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Active MBI cleaarnce is a plus

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
