Senior Data Scientist - (San Diego, CA - Remote)

We are looking for a Cloud Networking Researcher to support high-quality research on the Army's most critical cyber-related challenges, to perform outreach to bridge gaps, and to promote information exchange across Army, military, academic, industry and government cyber communities.

Primary responsibilities will include:

• Assessing, analyzing, synthesizing, integrating, and assimilating a wide range of scientific, technical, financial, programmatic and U.S. Army and DoD requirements information.


• Applying advanced scientific principles, theories, and concepts in developing original research programs or contributing to existing programs.


• Creating high-level or detailed technical reports and presentations requiring staff coordination.


• Writing and publishing in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.


• Attending program reviews, responding to programmatic and financial issues/questions, reviewing and commenting on technical and programmatic documentation, investigations and data analyses.


• Conducting site visits to evaluate program scientific/technical progress and opportunities.


• Working with Army, DoD, industry, academic, and international scientists and managers.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree (with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience), with PhD preferred, in Cloud Computing, Cloud network engineering, or related fields.


• S. Citizenship.


• Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.


• Recognized as an authority in a research specialty.


• In-depth knowledge of commercial cloud platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure).


• Technical knowledge of network engineering and operations, and a basic understanding of networking incident response tasks and activities.


• Ability to (a) communicate equally well to lay audience and experts in the field, both written and orally; (b) analyze research results in a field and draw conclusions about the efficacy of methods outlined; (c) review proposals (from other agencies); and (d) carry out literature surveys and write reports on the status of a sub-field.


• Skills may be demonstrated by appropriate graduate-level coursework, or independent research experience with documented output in the form of reports, conference papers, or journal articles.
