FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher in Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture/Plant Sciences. This position is for two years and will be renewed annually based on performance and available funding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create a daily dataset with images and attributes and preprocess data records for AI analysis.

Develop GAN-based AI architecture models to enhance the prediction of daylily hybrid traits based on flower imagery and non-imagery data.

Have the primary responsibility for preparing reports, data analysis, and writing scientific publications.

Assist the research team in developing new AI courses and course-embedded learning modules for students. Help build cutting-edge AI infrastructure to support research and education.

Train and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Present the research results at national and international scientific meetings.

Contribute to securing research funding by participating in grant applications to major funding agencies.

Engage in professional development through workshops, training, and other scholarly activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD in a relevant scientific area, including Agricultural Sciences, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge and extensive hands-on experience with AI-based tools for imagery and non-imagery analysis within the context of agricultural sciences or a related field.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team.
- A strong work ethic and a commitment to becoming an independent scientist with critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Publication records with at least two peer-reviewed publications as a first author in the field of AI application.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least three years of experience in the AI field, particularly working experience with Agricultural science-related problems is preferred.
- Proficiency in programming languages, including Python, Java, C++, and MATLAB. Experienced with data visualization, statistics, and data analytics.
- Prior experience and solid proficiency in advanced machine learning and deep learning algorithms, as well as software development.
- Familiarity with popular Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch. Ability to develop and fine-tune deep learning algorithms for image analysis. Capability to implement AI/ML-based algorithms effectively.
