Job Duties:
RNFA is a highly trained RN who must have both a CNOR certification and have completed an RNFA program which is offered through a college or university. Collaborates with the surgeon and the healthcare team in performing a safe operation with optimal outcomes for the patient. Practices perioperative nursing and must have acquired the necessary knowledge, skill & judgment specific to clinical practice in the operating room and in the RNFA role. Practices in collaboration with and at the direction of the surgeon in the operative phase of the perioperative experience. Performs duties of OR staff RN when not assigned in RNFA role-NYS license as a Registered Professional Nurse. Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant course. Robotic surgery experience preferred. Proficient in perioperative nursing practice-preferred scrubbing and circulating experience. No weekends, but will have evening call and rotating holiday requirements. CNOR required. Combined Circ/Scrub and RNFA role.

- Robotic Surgical Oncology (whipples, gastrectomies, hernias, etc)
- Robotic Thoracic
- Robotic general surgery (gall bladders, appendectomies)
- CNOR Required
- Two (2) years Experience OR experience in a level 1 trauma preferred
Certification(s):
- BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
- ACLS preferred (American Heart Association ONLY)

Instructs and prepares patients for examinations and assists Radiologist during procedures.

Demonstrates competence and proficiency in operation of all equipment and reports malfunctions to manager or lead.

Completes all assigned procedures in a timely manner and uses time between procedures to department advantage-assisting others and or assisting with room turnover

DOCUMENTATION/INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

Demonstrates competency in the use of Hospital information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS) and PACS.

Participates in hospital performance improvement activities (BPI projects, task forces,
etc.) when warranted.

Demonstrate confidentiality using own password and all patient care modules.

Answers telephone inquiries of a technical nature from physicians or hospital personnel
in other areas of the hospital while maintaining good phone etiquette.
