Performs administrative and technical duties necessary to support and maintain an enterprise class network.  Assists the engineering staff with the administration, installation, maintenance, and support of all JD North America. network devices.  Provides necessary 24/7 support to maintain high service level agreements and network performance.  Provides Tier I - II support as needed by performing the following main duties. This individual will effectively exhibit JD Finish Line’s core values of Customer, People, Winning, Community, and Financial Responsibility in everything they do by performing the following key duties: 

  • Basic router and switch administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols. (OSPF, BGP)

  • Maintain network performance through managing and maintaining network monitoring tools for analysis and performance to ensure meeting or exceeding Service Level Agreements established by management.

  • Evaluate network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency.

  • Planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of network hardware and services. 

  • Troubleshoot general network problems, escalating problems to Tier III or specific vendors as necessary. 

  • Administer access rights and permissions as required by the business.

  • Create and maintain relevant documentation for procedures and reference.

  • Provide support and assist in the technical development of IT Operations staff

  • Upgrade network by conferring with engineering staff and vendors.  Develops, configures, installs, tests, and evaluates network enhancements.

  • Maintain network hardware and software inventories.

  • Manage receipt of equipment and software and maintain license and support contract documentation.

  • Additional duties and projects as required.
     

Required Education and/or Experience:

Associates degree in Computer Science and/or Technology from a two-year college or university and 1 to 3 years of operational networking experience with Telecommunication technologies, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.  

Required Computer and/or Technical Skills:

Strong technical background to understand technologies used for networking activities, network connectivity, and protocols.  Operational experience working with the following: Cisco networking hardware including Routers and routing protocols, switches, firewalls (VPN, IPSEC, ACLs), Meraki SDWAN, wireless technologies, and general knowledge of VoIP concepts. Ideal candidates will have experience with Palo Alto Firewalls, Elastic Network Monitoring Tools or ISE access control. CCENT, CCNA, and/or Network+ Certification strongly preferred.

  • Average work week is 40-45 hours, which can vary depending on business needs.

  • The work environment for this position is a moderately noisy office setting.

Employees may be asked to perform additional duties outside of normal job scope on a temporary basis per company policy. $80,000-$90,000; 10% bonus target.  This role will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401k, sick leave, parental leave, and company paid time off plan.
