Job Description:

The ideal candidate understands the complexity of a fully scaled out micro services architecture and can make intuitive judgements on how to support it in a highly reliable and effective manner. In addition to addressing the need of the environment, you should also be a super star leader who builds relationships with product and platform development leaders and organizations. You’ll work alongside the best and the brightest engineering talent in the industry. As a core participant of your team, you’ll estimate engineering efforts, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and triage production issues. You need to be dynamic, collaborative, and curious as we build new experiences, improve existing products, and develop distributed systems powering the world’s largest e-commerce and payments websites at a scale only a few companies can match. You will work with both established and cutting edge technologies like Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Camel, J2EE, JaxB, JSON, Protobuf, RxJava, RxNetty, Hibernate, and Hystrix or Resilience4J to build highly resilient, low-latency, high throughput and with 4 9's availability services.

Job Responsibilities:
Lead and inspire a high-performing engineering team.
Drive a results-oriented culture with a strong focus on engineering excellence, execution, and craftsmanship as a Customer Champion.
Develop trusted partnerships with developers, partners, and architecture leaders to drive optimized platform product delivery.
Lead complex technical and strategic discussions that involve multiple personas including engineering, architect, product, customer, and other stakeholders.
Bring a strong industry perspective that can help shape and evolve the PayPal developer experience to be as good or better than other leading technology organizations.
Drive effective, mature Agile practices and continuous execution improvements within your teams.
Manage stakeholder planning and communications ensuring key outcomes.
Recruit, coach, and mentor the best engineering and management talent.
Build, coach, and manage a strong team of engineers that set the standard and can up-level the overall talent of the extended organization.
Anticipate and aggressively remove obstacles that slow down or prevent products and programs from delivering on product and program objectives.
Balance urgent and effective action, commitment to excellence, and taking the initiative to resolve problems; holds internal stakeholders accountable where appropriate.

Job Requirements:
7+ years experience in software engineering, architecture, and/or product development
2+ years of leadership experience as a people manager
Effective management and collaboration with geographically distributed teams.
Passionate about quality and software engineering
Working on problems involving scaling , innovation in fast-paced high-pressure environment.
Proven results in delivery on platform product.
Demonstrated strength at leading all phases of the Product Lifecycle, from setting the vision to roadmap planning, capturing requirements, project definition, execution, and operational excellence.
Metrics driven engineering culture and pays attention to tracking KPI’s to meet the outcomes
Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills; able to convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner.
Manage a diverse team of talented software engineers; attract, grow, and retain talent while building a culture of accountability, quality, innovation, and inclusion
Knowledge in Microservices interactions, Cloud Technologies, CI/CD, Jenkins, Testing methodologies is preferred.
Can thrive in an environment where success depends on a high degree of cross-functional collaboration to solve complex problems.
