Lead Machine Learning Engineer

Mind Company
Full-time
On-site
San Francisco, California, United States

About the team

Mind Company's mission is to build non-invasive neural interfaces - that is, enabling a communication layer between humans and other humans or computers, directly using thoughts.

In pursuit of this mission, our Research Team is responsible for building and training appropriate machine learning models capable of translating brain data into useful forms, such as text.

About the role

As our Lead Machine Learning Engineer, you will be directly responsible for all our machine learning efforts, the core of our business.

You’ll be figuring out how to most accurately and efficiently translate brain wave data to useful forms. You’ll work with researchers, hardware engineers, and the CEO/CTO.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We're an in-person company who deeply believe that great products are not built working from home.

In this role, you'll:

  • Work across our ML stack, and occasionally work on general software efforts as well

  • Build, train and deploy our ML translation models which convert brain waves into more useful forms

  • Learn about the brain, and understand how optimizing hardware can lead to model accuracy improvements

  • Grow and manage the Research Team, and its direction

We're looking for candidates with the following traits:

  • 2+ years experience building, training and deploying ML models

  • Curious about the brain, and passionate about unlocking human-computer interaction

  • Strong leadership skills and self-starter, able to carry a project from beginning to end

About Mind Company

Mind Company is 6-person neuro-tech startup with the mission of building noninvasive neural interfaces. We build our own hardware systems which measure brain data, collect proprietary training datasets, and train useful ML models.

If we succeed, humans will be communicating at higher information rates, playing video games with their mind, and never using slow keyboards again. All without requiring surgery. Join us in making this vision a reality.
