About the opportunity
This position is a technical position involved in the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of applications software and web services developed on agency’s systems and/or future cloud-based development platforms utilized and shared by users within and outside the agency. Provides highly complex development to support the team’s mission, leads the projects, trains and mentor’s junior or peers’ developers, and works independently of technical supervision.
Some of what you will do:
As the senior level Software Engineer for the systems within the agency’s Technology Solutions that supports core enterprise systems that include, but are not limited to:
Required Education and Experience:
A bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology program or a closely related field; AND seven (7) years (full-time equivalent) of progressive information technology experience such as consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, directing projects; providing customer or technical support in information technology. Additional years of experience can substitute for education on a one for one basis.
OR
An associate degree or higher in Information Technology program or a closely related field; AND nine (9) years (full-time equivalent) of progressive information technology experience such as consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, directing projects; providing customer or technical support in information technology. Additional years of experience can substitute for education on a one-for-one basis.
OR
Eleven (11) years (full-time equivalent) of progressive information technology experience such as consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, directing projects; providing customer or technical support in information technology.
At least three (3) years (full-time equivalent) of professional experience in the software development field.

The Washington State Gambling Commission is a licensing, regulatory, and law enforcement agency. Applicants must be willing to undergo and be able to pass an extensive background investigation, which includes a criminal history check, credit check, and fingerprinting. Information obtained from background checks will not necessarily preclude employment.
If hired, employees must adhere to the agency policy of prohibiting employees from serving as officers or managers of any corporation or organization that conducts a gambling activity. Employees may not participate in any licensed gambling activities in the state of Washington.
