Lead the development and execution of transformational AI strategies, ensuring alignment with VSP Vision’s overall business objectives.
Plays a key role in establishing credibility and visibility of a new and growing hybrid AI team.
Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of transformational AI projects and initiatives within the GIC and across the enterprise.
Foster cross-departmental collaboration to drive transformational AI initiatives, facilitating integration and adoption of generative AI technologies throughout the organization.
Prepare and present information for a diverse and executive-level audience, ensuring clear and effective communication of transformational AI projects and outcomes.
Provide technical expertise and leadership in AI, including machine learning, data science, and advanced analytics, to support transformational innovation initiatives.
Develop and manage relationships with external partners, including startups, academic institutions, and industry experts, to leverage cutting-edge AI technologies and solutions.
Ensure that transformational AI projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while meeting quality and performance standards.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of transformational AI projects and initiatives, using metrics and KPIs to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Stay current with the latest advancements in AI and related technologies and identify opportunities for their application within VSP Vision.
Communicate transformational AI strategies, projects, and outcomes to executive leadership and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment and support for transformational AI initiatives.
Mentor and develop a high-performing team of AI professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department’s goals and objectives.
Establish good working relationships across Company functions and business units, specifically with Digital Technology and Architecture and Policy and Governance within Global Technology Solutions.
Develop, mentor and grow personnel within the organization.
Monitor performance of direct reports; provides prompt and objective coaching and counseling; conduct performance reviews and recommend salary increases.
Participate in the hiring and interviewing process for open positions within the unit ensuring that the most qualified candidates are selected.
Assure effective communications are maintained within the unit and externally. Where appropriate, inform employees as to plans and progress, conduct employee discussion sessions at regular intervals.
Participate in a wide variety of special projects at Corporate or LOB level, as needed.
Coordinate with other units/departments to facilitate special requests, resolve workflow or production issues.
Job Specifications
Typically has the following skills or abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field;
Minimum 10 years of experience related to functional area.
Proven experience in leading cross-functional AI projects and initiatives, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners, including startups, academic institutions, and industry experts.
Strong technical expertise in AI and machine learning, including experience with AI frameworks, tools, and technologies.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Experience with presenting to audiences (of 5 to 100 people) of various levels (developers to executives) and backgrounds (business, technical, operations).
Experience in managing budgets and resources for AI projects, with a focus on delivering value and impact.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges and opportunities.
Passion for innovation and continuous learning, with a commitment to staying current with the latest advancements in AI and related technologies.
