Charlotte Tilbury is the fastest growing multi-axis beauty brand of all time. Highly disruptive and ambitious, we are looking to revolutionise the cosmetics industry. Using technology as a cornerstone of our strategy and enabling the purchase of makeup online to be “easy to use, easy to choose”. We have a highly flexible and customisable tech stack using a headless, API-first driven approach to create a fast and responsive website with modern technology principles at its heart.
Some of our recent achievements include:
- Replatforming in less than a year (virtually unheard of in ecommerce) to our new tech stack
- Developing the world’s first interactive touchscreen virtual makeup try-on experience using advanced real-time tracking and realistic visualisation. Charlotte’s ‘Magic Mirror’ went on to win Retail Week Tech Awards In-store CX Initiative of the Year.
- Giving ‘Magic Mirror’ a machine learning upgrade so that it can now recognise key facial characteristics including eye colour and skin tone and use that information to make personalised recommendations.
- Moving to AWS-based infrastructure to withstand the traffic spikes of Cyber Week and the regular TV ads and personal appearances from Charlotte.
- Creating our first set of microservices to enable A/B experimentation
Tech stack:
We are building a world-class technology team consisting of alumni from some of the largest global tech companies (HP, Google, IBM), the world’s largest retail companies (Tesco and Macy’s) and high-growth internet scale-ups such as Kayak and The Hut Group. As a business, we are fast-paced, exciting and growing rapidly and we make no apology for the fact that many ‘standard’ processes are not (yet) in place. Scope
In just the next 2 years we will:
‐ Redefine the business as a next generation omni-channel operation, something that only a handful of businesses (Amazon, Warby Parker etc.) can claim to do
‐ Continue to refine and build out our entire ecommerce tech stack, business systems and our analytical capabilities.
‐ Launch in at least 4 new Middle East markets and launch in APAC in the two largest markets in Hong Kong, with a view to expand quickly across the region.
‐ Build out our own store network in the UK, USA and Europe
‐ Deliver on the massive potential of our Magic Mirror and expand our use of AR technology online and in-store.
- Digitally enable our front-line sales teams in an entirely unique way through in-store technology initiatives
‐ Create the platform for a world class digital marketing, retention and advocacy operation

Technical Requirements:
- Polyglot Engineer with experience across a range of technologies
- Strong front-end skills (HTML5, CSS3) and an eye for design, UX and accessibility
- Experience of server-side development with Java would be beneficial, but not a requirement
- Experience with cloud native application development (AWS) and involvement in continuous delivery (TeamCity and CircleCI) as well as automated testing (end-to-end testing frameworks, unit tests)
- Experience with React (preferred), Angular or modern JS framework is a plus
- Experience optimising for max speed and scalability
- Experience with sprint-based Agile methodology
- Familiarity with browser testing and debugging
- In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment)
