Overview:


United One Communications is recruiting for an Enterprise SATCOM / Network Administrator to join our team based in Scott, AFB.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise to an extremely complex IP-based SATCOM network. 
  • Be directly involved in network configurations, system monitoring, remote terminal activation, customer problem tracking, and network problem resolution in all networking aspects integral to our client's Baseband, IF, and RF Communications. 
  • Responsible for build-outs and maintenance of the IP infrastructure, using iDirect, Linkway, and Advantech technology and familiar with many application and network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds Orion Network Monitoring System (NMS), E-Health, Netcool, INMS, VX Builder, VX Watch, Cisco Call Manager (CCM), Viasat VINE Manager, iBuilder, Monitor, and iSite. 
  • Provide written reports (trouble tickets, outage reports) as required by mission protocol and associate tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).  
  • Provide on-call support and could be asked to report for emergency operations.
  • Manage and configure various equipment at the Gateways worldwide.
  • Responsible for configuring assorted telecommunications equipment, including iDirect, Linkway, and Advantech IP Modems, IP switches and routers, Cisco Call Managers, voice switches, KG equipment, frequency converters, and other equipment IAW with established parameters, TTPs, and SOPs.
  • Create modem configuration files, switch and router configuration files, and voice equipment configurations.  
  • Responsible for remotely accessing and de-accessing users into the IP/SATCOM networks and assisting users with troubleshooting SATCOM and IP network problems.
  • Excellent communications skills and will be required to coordinate with external offices and agencies, including the DISA CONEX Branch, network users, MILSATCOM and Commercial SATCOM vendor NOCs, DISA Gateway Service Desks (GSD) and IP NOCs, DISA Tactical Mission Directors, and other DoD and contractor communications planners, managers and operators.
  • Analyze SAR/GARs, SAA/GAAs, TSOs, TRs, Transmission Plans, and other documentation to determine configuration requirements and alternatives and report results to the government managers as required.  
  • Develop network diagrams and cut sheets, using government-provided tools and applications, based on these analyses and provide the documents to the government.
  • Provide status reporting on equipment status, network status, network utilization, and other metrics using software applications and products provided by the government. 
  • Create and manage Incident and Event tickets using the government-provided ticketing system. 
  • Update SATCOM and IP network utilization and status reports daily. 
  • Contribute to daily, monthly, and annual resource utilization reports.
  • Perform passphrase management IAW established SOPs and TTPs. Passphrase management includes issuing passphrases, maintaining the passphrase database, and daily reporting utilization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Junior Level: Must have a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Mid-Level: Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Senior Level: Must have a minimum of 5 plus years of relevant experience
  • Skilled in Satellite Communications (SATCOM), earth station equipment, and associated terrestrial systems.
  • Experienced in implementing and delivering DISN services (VoIP, VoSIP, VTC, JWICCS, NIPR, SIPR) and Transport (MSPP, MPLS, Promina) through SATCOM Gateways.
  • Advanced IP/Networking experience, including routers and switches, subnets, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, RIP), VLANs, ACLs, application Ports, and multicasting.
  • Expert knowledge of voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateways, call managers, performance enhancing proxies (PEP), and telephony systems.
  • Knowledge of implementing hybrid networks---terrestrial, satellite, and fiber.
  • Ability to manage IP over SATCOM networks using iDirect, Linkway, LinkStar, or equivalent FM-TDMA hubs.
  • Knowledge of RF theory, characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages associated with the myriad SATCOM bands (L, C, X, Ku, and Ka).
  • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of tactical and strategic MILSATCOM terminals.
  • Familiarity with operating and maintaining MILSATCOM earth terminal equipment (up/down converters, modems, high-power amplifiers).
  • Familiarity with operating and maintaining MILSATCOM baseband equipment (EBEM, Promina, MIDAS, Convergence routers, IA Tools).
  • Familiarity with MILSATCOM encryption devices (KG-250, KG-250x, KIV-7HS, KIV-7M, KG-94, KG-175).
  • Familiarity with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) principles and implementation
  • Knowledge of information technology and knowledge and experience with commercial and tactical military satellite technology architectures, standards, systems, hardware, and software.
  • Knowledge and experience in providing and servicing IP-based satellite and terrestrial data and video networks for full-time and occasional use.
  • Familiarity with the seven OSI Models and IPv6 layers, and interest and skill in adapting emerging platforms and new technologies.
  • Knowledge of DoD Communications Security (COMSEC).
  • Familiarity with DoD trouble ticketing systems (GTMS/Remedy), troubleshooting methodologies, and service desk operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software and advanced Windows Operating System experience.
  • Firewall management experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship

Education:

  • A minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active Secret

Certification Requirements: 

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II
