Tutor Intelligence is looking for a talented hardware engineer with strong electrical engineering expertise to help us design custom automation components that are both more powerful and less expensive than off-the-shelf solutions. Our robots have powerful software capabilities, and we can reap large benefits from specialized hardware tailored to our needsβ€”often cutting costs dramatically.

You will source and evaluate electrical components (sensors, actuators, electrical assemblies) from third-party vendors, guiding decisions for current and future hardware versions. This is a great role for someone who enjoys fast prototyping cycles, working on many different electrical projects, and learning quickly. Our broader goal is to create generalized hardware that handles a variety of use cases, so every new robot deployment is faster and simpler than the last.

If you’re passionate about electrical design and want to help shape the future of automation, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

    • Design and prototype custom PCBs
    • Develop and refine motor control systems
    • Evaluate sensors and actuators for integration into our robotic platforms
    • Rapidly test and iterate on hardware concepts
    • Provide technical guidance on electrical components and assemblies

Qualifications

    • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals
    • Hands-on experience designing and printing custom PCBs
    • Familiarity with different types of motors and motor control approaches
    • Lots of experience building electrical things
