Job Description & Summary

Reporting to the Chief Information & Technology Officer, the Director of Software Development is responsible for leading the Development and Quality Assurance functions within PwC’s Products & Technology organization. This role involves collaborating with other Products & Technology leaders to deliver functionally strong, sustainable solutions that meet business requirements with efficiency, quality, and speed.

This role ensures that the needs of the organization are met in an effective, efficient, sustainable, scalable, and reusable manner. The Director of Software Development is responsible for leading, managing, and evolving the development and quality assurance functions, which are tasked with delivering all custom software solutions and automations for PwC Canada. Additionally, this role involves developing and establishing the software automation development and quality assurance tools and practices needed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the team.

Meaningful work you’ll be part of

As a Director of Software Development, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve business issues, deliver high quality client service and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Designing and delivering scalable, secure, effective, and reusable solutions following industry-standard design patterns and standardized repeatable development practices.

  • Leading teams with diverse technical skills: mobile/web technologies, microservices, DevSecOps, Gen AI, and process automation.

  • Ensuring an efficient software development lifecycle from requirements definition through deployment.

  • Delivering Gen AI and automation solutions that address operational challenges and prioritizing projects for the benefit of PwC Canada.

  • Developing and executing processes that increase the velocity of software development initiatives.

  • Supporting multiple software development methodologies, primarily Agile and Waterfall.

  • Ensuring efficient product and automation delivery.

  • Leading transformation via API-driven architecture, componentization, cloud-first mindset, Gen AI, automation, and DevSecOps.

  • Managing the development and evolution of the development and quality assurance functions.

  • Establishing and applying consistent Quality Assurance best practices to all software releases.

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field.

  • Experience in increasing levels of responsibility in a technical role.

  • Proficiency with Software Development, Process Automation, and Quality Assurance.

  • Expertise with Solution Architecture and exposure to Enterprise Architecture.

  • Implementing Agile DevOps capabilities.

  • Extensive background in large-scale software solution implementations.

  • Experience with development of Gen AI and automation solutions.

  • Adeptness with tracking and reporting financials for technology projects.

  • PMP and Scrum Master Certification.

  • TOGAF certification.
