Required education\: Bachelor's degree, AND:



  • 36 months experience working as a Database Developer or working with databases.


Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 84 months related experience.


Skills:



  • Demonstrable experience as a Database Developer

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, C++, or Java, with a preference for more than one program

  • Exceptional critical thinking, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities

  • Ability to craft detailed technical manuals

  • Customer service skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions

  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff


Working Conditions:

Responsible for data gathering before development of a database. Designs, develops, tests, implements and maintains new and existing databases. Creates management methods and systems to access efficiently to information stored in databases.


 Duties:



  • Gathers all information regarding the intended functions of each database.

  • Receives requests pertaining to the layout, appearance, and special features of each database.

  • Designs and creates appropriate frameworks.

  • Configures databases to be able to withstand cyber attacks and the loss of information.

  • Reviews each development to detect and amend coding and typographical errors and bugs.

  • Formulates data dictionaries that are congruent with task specifications.

  • Creates technical documents that outline the purpose, capacity, and guidelines attached to each database.

  • Provides practical guidance on the use and migration of each database.

  • Services and updates databases, as required.    

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
