BuckleighWilliams is partnering with a growing alternative asset manager in the search for a skilled Data Scientist. A niche energy focused asset manager, having built an AUM of $5B – with a particular focus on Oil & Gas and carbon friendly concerns.  With a focus on innovation and collaboration, this role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and develop advanced analytical capabilities.


 


Role Overview: As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for leveraging data and machine learning techniques to develop predictive models, optimize investment strategies, and drive data-driven decision-making processes. Collaborating closely with the investment team and the COO office, you will play a key role in building out advanced analytical capabilities and developing innovative solutions to complex investment challenges.


 


Responsibilities:


  • Lead the development and implementation of predictive models and machine learning algorithms to enhance investment decision-making processes.

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of large and complex datasets to extract actionable insights and identify investment opportunities.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy scalable data solutions, including battery models, geospatial models, and other proprietary tools.

  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in data science methodologies, tools, and technologies.

  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.

 


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Proven experience in data science and machine learning within the financial services industry.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or R; experience with Java is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques.

  • Experience working with big data technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, AWS).

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

 


Compensation: Salary range: $175,000 - $200,000 base salary, plus a significant bonus structure.
