About the Role:

As a Data Science Manager, you will be responsible for strategizing and executing data science initiatives that align with Borrowell’s goals, ensuring that our data products effectively serve our growing member base. Your leadership will empower the team to explore new technologies and methodologies to enhance our Data Science capabilities.

During your first year, you can expect to:

  • Develop a Data Science strategy and roadmap that algins with company objectives by collaborating cross-functionally with product, business and engineering teams
  • Oversee end-to-end project management from conceptualization to delivery, ensuring quality and timely execution
  • Influence Borrowell's product roadmap and business strategies by implementing innovative and impactful Data Science solutions at scale
  • Build our Data Science team from the ground up
  • Manage end-to-end delivery of models, including partnering with external stakeholders


Requirements
  • 2+ years experience in leading data science teams, with a desire to build a team from the ground up and willingness to stay technical
  • Strong ability to develop, articulate and execute a comprehensive Data Science strategy that aligns with business objectives and supports the organization’s long-term vision
  • Experience managing the entire machine learning lifecycle, from gathering business requirements to implementing models in production
  • Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL for data analysis
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence business/product decisions

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience in the fintech or e-commerce industry
  • Experience with ML Ops
  • Experience with DBT and Airflow
  • Experience with Flask, FastAPI
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools, such as Looker

We are remote-first across Canada with an office in Toronto. This role requires you to attend in-person meetings and team-building events.
