The Opportunity
We’re looking to add a results-drivenâ¯Cybersecurity Analystâ¯to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) Cybersecurityâ¯team, basedâ¯in our Winnipeg Office. Reporting to the Team Lead of Cybersecurity, this role works with the rest of the team to help protect our systems and data by supporting compliance activities, operational responsibilities, and providing second level support.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
In this role, you’ll be asked to…
- Manage tools and systems related to privileged access management, firewalls, vulnerability management, email security, and logging agents.
- Troubleshoot connectivity and access issues using a variety of tools.
- Be part of initial cybersecurity incident response and investigations, supporting resolution of issues or outages
- Collaborate with our Managed Detection & Response provider to ensure effective 24/7 monitoring of our IT environment and serve as an escalation point for all ticketed security incidents.
- Collaborate with our Vulnerability Management provider to ensure priority issues are addressed promptly and patch management and configuration changes are effective.
- Perform periodic vulnerability assessments on new and existing IT systems to identify, document, and help mitigate risks to WCLC systems and data.
- Participate in periodic threat/risk assessments, research security enhancements and make recommendations, support planning and design of cybersecurity architecture and documentation.
- Participate in ongoing maturity and effectiveness assessments for cybersecurity controls, performing internal security assessments of IT systems as required, and monitoring control compliance.
- Participate in information technology audits, collaborating with internal and external audit teams and responding to recommendations.
- Support developing our annual cybersecurity awareness training schedule and collaborate with our managed cybersecurity awareness vendor to ensure training is conducted with employees.
- Remain up to date on the broader Cybersecurity industry – including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes, and knowledge of new attacks and threat vectors.
- Provide input and advice as a subject matter expert, ensuring business units and projects are following best practices for security during project execution.

Qualifications:
For this role, we’re looking for someone with…
- A college diploma or university degree in computer related discipline and/or two years equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in an Information Technology environment.
- Strong organizational, analytical, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Experience working with or implementing technologies such as Firewalls/NGFW/WAF, PAM, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Email security, and vulnerability scanners.
- An understanding of cloud computing, virtualization, and zero trust concepts is an asset.
- A working knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and IT Control Frameworks such as CIS, CSA, NIST, ISO, PCI, COBIT is an asset.
- Previous cybersecurity experience and/or certification (CISSP, GIAC, CCSP) is an asset.
- Certifications in Microsoft (Azure, Entra, Defender, etc.), Cisco, Checkpoint, Linux, Network +, , is an asset.
- Experience with SIEM and solutions is an asset.
- Experience with automation tools is an asset.
