TRIUMF’s student program typically hires ~40 students each term from across all disciplines who hang together socially and professionally during the term, and beyond. Our program offers young minds a chance to gather, learn, make new friends, and have fun doing so during their time at TRIUMF. We hold weekly ProD sessions for students which include different activities such as conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and active listening. Additionally, we hold weekly seminars about the different experiments at TRIUMF, and these talks specifically cater to students. Located on the UBC campus makes it easier for students to make friends, create memories, and explore Vancouver all while working at TRIUMF.
TRIUMF’s student program is more than just a place to work, its learning, memories, friendships, exploration, and development all clubbed into one.
Come join us to see how we are working to unlock the mysteries of the universe and shape the future. Apply now and be part of our extraordinary journey.

Goal:
The goal of this position is to develop a web app that provides a live interface to access an existing image processing routine that was previously developed and tested. The app will enable users to select any view screen along the e-Linac and capture multiple live images as required. This app will improve the operational efficiency of the e-Linac by helping physicists to characterize the beam and facilitate quicker troubleshooting when beam conditions change.
Responsibilities:
Independently leading development of the new application within an existing web-applications ecosystem.
Be proactive to communicate effectively with researchers, engineers, operators and other staff to get necessary resources and support.
Take part in operating and monitoring the e-Linac in a fast-paced control room environment.
Participate and contribute in weekly accelerator physics group meetings.
Write a report to record the work produced by the end of the term.
Qualifications:
The student should be proficient with either Python or Javascript programming.
Learning Outcomes:
This project provides the student with valuable experience in beam operation, data acquisition, and web app development. The student will also be granted some beam time to test the app and collect preliminary data for validation against the model. The results could potentially be presented at a conference, where they may be shared with other users.
